Work Schedule: This is a hybrid/remote role where the candidate's prior experience in this practice area will determine how often they need to be in office. Our ideal candidate will only need to be in the office once a week or even just twice a month if they are very comfortable in Labor and Employment matters. 

Firm Overview: We are a full-service law firm that has been in business for over 150 years, offering a broad range of legal services to clients across various industries.

Practice Area: The Labor and Employment practice represents private and public employers of all sizes and industries, including utilities, banking, healthcare, education, and government entities. The team advises clients on all phases of employment and independent contractor relationships, from hiring and retention through voluntary retirement and involuntary severance.

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join our Labor and Employment practice in New York, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law and a commitment to providing exceptional legal services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review employment-related documents such as policies, handbooks, and contracts.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Department of Labor (DOL).
  • Assist in litigation involving employment disputes, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour claims, and wrongful termination.
  • Conduct internal investigations related to workplace issues.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop strategies for resolving employment-related issues.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 3+ years of legal experience in labor and employment law.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
