Director of Mergers and Acquisitions

Position Overview
The Director of Mergers and Acquisitions will lead the company's efforts in identifying, assessing, and executing strategic acquisition initiatives to enhance overall business growth and competitiveness within the food industry. This role requires a seasoned professional with expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, and market research, ensuring that all M&A activities align with the company's long-term objectives. Post-merger integration and buy-side experience are crucial elements for success in this high-growth position and organization.

This is an on-site position. 5 days a week in office in Irvine. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets in the food/distribution industry.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence on prospective mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for M&A that align with corporate goals.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of M&A transactions to secure favorable outcomes.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth through M&A.
  • Assess risks associated with mergers and acquisitions and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage the entire M&A process from initiation to integration, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth integration post-acquisition.
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including investment bankers, legal advisors, and financial institutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, or similar roles.
  • Proven track record of successful M&A transactions, preferably within the food industry.
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills.
  • Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of market research and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and regulatory compliance in the M&A context.
